You may want to try this air app market generator http://saqoosha.net/lab/FLARToolKit/MarkerGenerator/MakerGenerator.air, and the latest online version http://flash.tarotaro.org/blog/2009/07/12/mgo2/
Both give different recognition detection so you can play around, depending on your marker.
I find Saqoosha one better for symbolic or markers which look mirror imaged and the other one better for text / images.
