Hey Yuuka, that's a good idea.

I also wear most of my clothes until there are holes. Patched until damn jialat. Most of the clothes I don't wear is because of the increased in waistline or because work does not give me the opportunity to wear them so I feel it is a tremendous waste just leaving them like that.

Which orphanage is it?

You could try calling your community centre. They do collections and can tell you which organisations may want your stuff. I usually call up this orphanage my mom is familiar with and let them sort through what they can use before I dump anything. Their older children rarely get anything.

I wear my regular clothes till they`re thinly worn and virtually colourless. I keep wearing them so long as nobody complains about the rips and holes. Can`t even give them away once I`m done with them. My "charity" pile has to be specially sorted if they`re to be any good.

Yup. Most definitely will share once I find a place.

Found this group below...
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SgFreecycle/

The irony, at least to me, is that if an individual can afford Internet access, then they probably won't need donations although to be fair, the group is more for preventing waste as opposed to helping people in need.

Hi Ian

No tips, but like you I've wanted to give away good things (clothing, cookware, an unwanted dinner set at one time, bicycles etc) and I've searched.

I was hoping there would St Vincent De Paul or Red Cross shops around, but not really.

The myth that there's no poverty here always surprises me, and I wonder whether welfare agencies not reaching out in this way, as they do in other countries, is a reflection of this?

If you find a good avenue, do post it!
