Usually, editing is done for clarity. However, the omission of NS seems more like censoring, but that is illogical as people like me would still read your article at your blog.

I learned it too when they published my letters some years ago. My English is quite poor and I am happy that they edit it for me, and from then on, I read published letters with the perception that these are edited versions w/o any proof reading by the writer.

And even many more years ago, I learned that news reports were far from accurate and some time incorrect. They have a tight deadline to meet!</description>
