Ian, seems to me what that site so-called marketing element mainly is about making money online. Thru blog traffic and the tons of ads. By going to his site, we are helping him to earn money already.
In truth, the information are out there on the net about how to gain blog traffic, making money online blah blah. They are not new. Google “make money online” and you’ll find his site right in the number 1 spot. This guaranteed huge traffic and in return, these traffic generate ad revenues. It’s huge cos the keyword search “make money online” ranks high for obvious reason, right?
It’s possible to make good money online but be prepared to put alot of time, effort and dedication to it.

i did some analysis on this before, and i realized that in essence, they are all selling the same info, and everyone cross references each other, and everyone promotes each other’s products.
Try signing up for a few of their newsletters, mailing lists etc and you can even do a direct word comparision of the content.
Finally, my take is that these IM gurus are just in a very big echo chamber that outsiders either cannot understand (me) how it really works, do not want to understand, or wonder how the hell someone with no real expertise calling themselves guru (me again).

I was invited by Alvin to join him last year but I said I wasn’t interested because I don’t like the idea. Why? Because if you’re THAT good, you could make money from Internet Marketing yourself - not from preaching about Internet Marketing, just like those option trading gurus we read in the papers.
I could make big bucks today training people “how to make money while they sleep” with my resume, but it’s akin to prostituting myself - no class. I derive more satisfaction consulting for companies like ST701, M1 and iProperty.
