TDM apparently ‘messed up’ the naming of an upcoming event on Friday. I got this message on Facebook regarding the correction you can now see on their site.
An excerpt of the mail is reflected below:
Vint is NOT the only father of the internet but the one of the creators of the underlying technology which the Internet today is based on. We understand the Vint is not too happy with the particular vocabulary and would very much prefer for it indicate him as part of a group of great people who revolutionized our world.
He feels that credit for the Internet needs to go to more people than just himself and this creates difficulties when others who helped in the Internet’s creation read these kinds of things.
I don’t know why but this struck me as particularly jarring with what I’m commonly used to in Singapore.

Hi Ian,
Pretty surprised to read about your comments on my mistake here
Vint is a real cool guy and he has achieved cult status!! The apology comes along with the appreciation and respect that I, as an Internet user, should show in view of all the contributions that this group of people have given to make the Internet possible.
Hope you’ve signed up for our event!!

Hey Wayne! I don’t know why but your message just struck me as one showing lots of humility from a guy (i.e. Vint) who didn’t need to be so.
I don’t know why, but I get the feeling in Singapore, few people would object to such ‘mistakes’. Totally unsubstantiated feeling though.
Anyway, I signed up on Facebook!!!! Arggh…accepted an invite there and didn’t realize had to go the actual form on TDM site to apply for a place.
Sigh.
Oh well. I heard you guys will be putting up a video. Will be looking forward to it.
