"Success is due to my efforts, Failure is the team’s fault."

Please, WKS didn't even say that.

The way he "apologised", he might as well not have said anything.

The message inherent in his choice of words was simply: "I'm sorry to hear that such an incident took place."

It implies zero responsibility on the part of the ISD, MHA and WKS.

Hello Kevin, have you read Catherine Lim's blog posts? It really is good reading. She nails what you are talking about.

LOL. I like the term you used - People Manager.

Someone should post this kind of argument in the Parliment... I'm kinda disappointed at how this whole event of accounting for the escape turned out in Parliment...

It's disturbing enough to know that someone with a threat to public safety had escaped due to many simple yet dumb lapses as stated...
What makes it even more disturbing is the fact that we have to just suck it all up and listen to someone at the top say that it's just an honest mistake and we have to move on...

It's actually the way how our People Manager puts it that made many unhappy...

Did the Morocco Justice Minister resign over the escape of the 9 Casablanca bombers?

http://anonymousxwrites.blogspot.com/2008/04/ultimate-toilet-break-for-these-9.html

We might be asking too much (unreasonably) if we (mis)use the incident just to witness some minister to be punished.

Is it really surprising that they took the blue pill? With the exit of the old guard, the PAP leadership under LKY's supreme rule has adopted his contempt for the average citizen. This is not the first time that the leadership has said that making public officials accountable will only result in them not wanting to take responsibilty for anything. No point talking about punishing anyone. Being accountable is just something that our leadership will not do. Look at all the debacles over the years. This culture of not being accountable is widespread in everything that they control. LKY once said that GIC was accountable only to him. It did not have to report to parliment as his judgement alone was good enough. That implied that he is accountable to no one. Is it any suprise that the rest of the PAP leadership did not take that lead?
